galleria

Well, as some of you may know...

I'm trying to get an Etsy shop up and running.
For the moment, I seem a bit stuck. (Name, amount of work to sell, yada, yada, yada)

But I thought I would start to share a couple of small canvas pieces.
Maybe gain some feedback?

*I quickly snapped these shots, so excuse the poor lighting*

"Canary On my Mind"

"Type-Happy"

I dabble in the mixed media world. Thread, acrylic, ink, chalk, cloth, pressing, my photography etc.

Every piece has Many layers. testing the over all look, by covering up previous messes.
I don't like erasing.
Also, anything I do usually happens in one sitting.
If you let things linger. It eventually gets Stale!

Anyway, I'll start posting more work.
In all hopes, I'll start selling soon.

moment zinger

A previous night.
Octobers creeping presence is strong.
Vino flows next to the warmth of candle light.
Parisian Persuasion reins for a hallows eve costume delight.

With all the windows swung open,
perched a top these dusty hills,
cool air flows through the Barrett home.
I sit, while my mind wanders within it's own self.
Completely haunted by a certain heart.

Family Treasure

Old family books.
I carry them close to my heart. And will never let go.
Books are magical, especially if they been held within your own family for over 110 years.
I've learned more about my own relatives by reading and looking through these books. Filled with bookmarks, pressed flowers, notes, sketches, poems... clues to who they were.
They are my Loves.

(I'm Rutledge, but Carter was the other side of the family.
great grandparents farmed in Foosland, IL)

The following was written inside:

It Reads:

Please don't talk about me when I'm gone
Oh Honey tho our friendship ceases from now on and listen if you can't say anything real nice it's better not to talk at all is my advice
With parting, you go your way I'll go mine.
it's best that we do
Here's a kiss I hope that this brings lots of luck to you
makes no difference how I carry on
Remember, please don't talk about me when I'm gone

*This kind of doing completes me.*

buon giorno!

The great west.
feeling california's majesty this morn', with desert and hillsides like no other.

the morning is cool and brisk, though the sunlight peering over the mountain tops strike the lazy homesteads nestled in the valley. they stir from their slumber.

with the air clear my wandering eyes explore the distance,
as if I were a horse wrangler searching for that perfect stallion.

The landscape is rich with texture & the birds are fluttering and singing with the excitement of a new day....

I shall do the same.

Inspirational People

This Marlene Dietrich postcard came in the mail today from Hamburg Germany.

It could only be from one magnificent friend...

Ms. Julie.

"The Only Journey is the One Within." - Rilke
This quote was written solely on the back.
It's exactly what I needed to read, and hear. Timing can be quite amazing.

Inspiration to the fullest!

Over the weekend, as a housewarming Gift, Julie also sent this modern Coo-coo clock for the house. I smile every time I pass it.
It's set on CEST, So it's always Hamburg, Germany time!

Off to send goodies myself.
