Born and raised in the city of Chicago,
I never knew what a 'real' night-sky looked like till age 14.
The 'exposure' happened out West, in the vast Arizona Desert.
On the lengthy road trip, day passed and nigh fell while i was asleep.
my weary eyes opened around 2am...
I gazed up in utter awe.
Night was no longer night.
Crisp darkness on the horizon,
illuminated violet shone above.
The magnitude of visible stars enraptured. It was then, a child was left behind in the orange-hazed-glow of Chicago.
